A.V.Subramaniam (translated from Tamil)
Aricle in Tamil by H.H Shri sankarachariyar of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Pujya Shri Chanandra
Shekhar Saraswati
Budhdirbalam Yaso Dhairyam Nirbhayatva-Marogata
Ajadyam Vakapatutvam Cha Hanumatsmaranathbavet
This sloka says what Anjaneya gives to his devotees. He gives intelligence, strength, fame, steadiness, courage, health, vigilance and power of speech. Normally all these qualities will not be collected in one single soul. For example an intelligent man may not be healthy. A strong and sturdy man may not be intelligent even if these two are mingled with a man, he may be a coward. Even though a man is equipped with many qualities he may not be able to apply them promptly and with perseverance and he may be lazy too. Even though a man is highly intelligent, he may not be able to place his view points promptly and correctly. Anjaneya blesses his devotees with all qualities without any clashing effect reason which Anjaneya is the embodiment of all these qualities. Whatever we think as conflicting qualities they also mingle fully with in him. For example strong and sturdy people will not have humility. Highly intelligent people will not have bhakthi or devotion without any pride. But Anjaneya stands at the top of all with physical strength and good knowledge as well as humility and bhakthi. Physically strong people may go in a wrong way. They may not have devotion. Even though they have wisdom they may not have clarity in it, but it may be blind faith or crude bhakthi.
But Anjaneya, being a great devotee of Lord Ramachandra he was wisest of all. The sloka, which begins "Vaidhehi Sahitham" says, Shri Rama gives Gnonopadesa to all, keeping Anjaneya as the foremost one or as an example, such as Guru Dhakshinamurthy teaches all, keeping sanakadhi Munis as example. People believe that there was a Bhashyam for Sri Bhagavath Geetha in Paisasa language written by Anjaneya. Such a great philosopher is Anjaneya. Lord Rama himself has praised him as "Nava vyakarana vetha" means one who has mastered all the nine vyakaranas. Such a great educationist is Anjaneya.
No one has reached the top level in wisdom, strength, devotion, valour, fame, service and humility other than Anjaneya himself.
Even after all these qualities we have to praise him for his celibacy. He is absolutely free from Kama (meaning sexual desire here). Even for one bit of a second he does not have that felling. Such a pure soul is Anjaneya.
In south he is called as Hanuman. In Karnataka he is called as Hanumanthaiah where as beyond Chitoor and all over Andhra he is called as Anjaneyalu. All over Maharastra he is worshipped as Maruthi. In the north is worshipped as Mahaveer.
He is inequal. One gets courage even when he thinks about Him. Fear will go off immediately, good knowledge, devotion and wisdom will come and Kama will go off.
Wherever Rama's name is spelt, wherever Ragunatha keerthanam is sung there Anjaneya will be standing with tears flowing on his eyes but without our sight. Nowadays inspite of all blessings one should have self control which Anjanya has to shower on us. People who worship him will not have any problem.
