Meenakshi Amman
Feb 18, 2001. Last year, , I went to Madurai to
attend a friend's marriage. I got an opportunity
to visit the Meenakshi temple. I felt "abundance
of love and greatness" seeing those huge
pillars. It inspired me; my thoughts.
I am in Bangalore. I used to go to Meenakshi
Sundareshwar Temple few kilometeres away from my
office. Once I committed to Goddess that I would
come to her temple. But I kept procrastinating.
Nov 6, 2001(Tuesday). I finally decided that
evening I should go to temple whatever it takes.
Evening, when I was prepared to leave the office
on my way to temple, it started raining like
anything. I felt as though God is challenging me
'if you have Will, you will'. The rain floods on
the roads were almost touching the knee. I got
wet completely. The temple is on the outskirts of
the city, and finally one autorickshaw agreed to
come there. Then I managed to "visit" the temple,
and kept my commitment.
Nov 14, 2001. It was Diwali. I was returning from
hometown (Bhavani, near Erode) to Bangalore in
Train. Before I boarded the Intercity Express at
Erode, something told me I would meet someone by
the Goddess Meenakshi name. So, I started
observing the passengers around me. I met two
babies on the train. But one was a baby boy and
the other was a Muslim baby girl. No sign of
"Meenakshi" around me.
I was approaching Bangalore. Within 15 minutes, I
would reach the station. There was a man of my
age sitting opposite to me. He started the
conversation. We both felt as though we have met
sometime before. But no chance to my knowledge.
He said he got married one year back and the
previous week his wife delivered a baby girl.
Suddenly, it flashed in my mind. I asked him,
what's the name of his girl. He said Meena
Preethi.
Yes. I got it. I just smiled. He asked my why I
was smiling. I briefed him the story. He said, he
had kept that name attributing to Goddess's
Meenakshi. That was surprise #1.
I asked him when was his wedding anniversary. He
said November 6th. That was surprise #2. It was
the day I went to the temple.
He said he normally would go to Meenakshi Temple
(in Madurai) for all great occasions. But for his
wedding anniversary he missed it because of his
baby's birth. But Goddess made me to visit the
temple (in Bangalore) on his behalf, it seems.
All seems to be coincidence ??? But I feel that's
how God shows His presence. Such experiences help
me to focus on spiritual world and takes me away
from material world. It is also blessing of the
God to join the elite group of the devotees. Here
I feel the "oneness".
